Visually, fine steel wool fibers can be seen on the pad surface, making them easily distinguishable from ceramic brake pads. In addition, they exhibit certain magnetic properties.

The presence of steel wool fibers gives semi‑metallic brake pads higher structural strength and thermal conductivity, along with high braking sensitivity and excellent high‑temperature braking efficiency. They are suitable for braking conditions of high‑speed and heavy‑duty vehicles. A major advantage of semi‑metallic brake pads is their strong temperature control capability and ability to withstand higher braking temperatures. During braking, they help dissipate heat from the brake disc surface and transfer heat to the brake caliper and its components. Equally importantly, semi‑metallic brake pads offer outstanding cost‑performance.

However, semi‑metallic brake pads also have drawbacks: due to their high metallic content, they are more prone to noise compared with ceramic brake pads. Furthermore, in low‑temperature environments, the high metal content results in greater surface wear on the brake disc.

To overcome these relative disadvantages, our company has adopted the following improvement measures:

◆ Refined formula design over 20 years to resolve the issue of excessive wear

◆ Imported three‑layer shims: rubber‑steel‑rubber structure

◆ Adopted OEM‑style slotting and chamfering processes

Ceramic Brake Pads: TD2, TTD‑580 Semi‑metallic brake pads mainly use coarse steel wool fibers as reinforcing and key compounding materials.
